Hübnerite is a rare mineral from the Wolframite mineral series and one of the principle ores of Tungsten. It is usually identified by its dark colors: black, dark gray, reddish black, dark brown and dark red. Its luster is adamantine, resinous and metallic. Quality specimens are limited and are highly collectable. This dark mineral is associated and paired with numerous aesthetic minerals, including Quartz, Fluorite, Pyrite, Muscovite and Gold.
The crystal system for Hübnerite is monoclinic, commonly prismatic and striated. Other forms include tabular, bladed, columnar aggregates, massive, reticulated and radiating groups.
Quality Hübnerite specimens are found in limited localities, including Bolivia, China, Peru and the USA (Colorado).
