Cavansite is an amazing and popular mineral, and a member of the Zeolite group. Though it has no commercial value as an ore, it is highly valued by collectors for its brilliant sky-blue to blue-green color, its vitreous to pearly luster, and its relative rarity. Originally discovered in Oregon, USA, the recent discoveries in numerous Zeolite quarries in India have eclipsed those of Oregon. Several notable associations with other minerals include Stilbite, Calcite, Huelandite, Quartz, Okenite and Apophyllite.
The crystal system for Cavansite is orthorhombic, typically forming rounded aggregates of radiating acicular prismatic crystals.
Quality specimens of Cavansite are found in extremely limited localities, including India and the USA (Oregon).
