Calcite with Barite, Sphalerite and Fluorite
This is one of my favorite pieces. I have looked for a loooong time for a pristine and essentially flawless amber Calcite specimen from the famous Elmwood Mine, and then I found this one. The Calcite crystals exhibit parallel growth with multiple terminations. The Calcite crystals are lustrous and highly translucent with deep-amber coloring and pristine terminations. Hosting the Calcite is a large cluster of several intergrown spheres of soft-white Barite crystals coated with light-purple Fluorite druze along with lustrous Sphalerite crystals and a dash of sparkly gray siliceous Limestone matrix. I’m sure that was a run-on sentence, but this specimen just goes on and on . . . A truly spectacular piece that is as pristine and undamaged as I have ever seen. A sure highlight of any collection!
