Emerald in Matrix
This is a beautiful specimen hosting an intact, translucent (rare for Chinese Emeralds-usually opaque), well-formed crystal of Emerald (a variety of Beryl). The Emerald crystal is terminated and nicely striated. It is situated on a matrix consisting of Calcite with a coating of microcrystalline Pyrite. A partial rhombohedron of translucent Calcite can be clearly seen to the left of the Emerald Crystal. A very aesthetic specimen in excellent condition.
