A plate of light-brown Chert hosting several sharp cubic Galena crystals. I especially like the contrast and symmetry, with the Galena crystals rising out of the matrix to take the front and center. There’s even a few miniature Galena crystals on the bottom of the matrix. An excellent specimen from the now-closed mines of Picher, Oklahoma. (In fact, the entire town of Picher is “closed,” evacuated and declared uninhabitable in 2009 due to the environmental and health damage caused by the lead mining from which the Galena specimens came from.)
