Gypsum var. Selenite
I have some specimens from Red River that the Selenite ball is completely covered with golden Selenite crystal “fishtails.” But for some reason this piece catches my eye. For starters, the two Selenite crystals exhibit the classic “fishtail” formation, they’re sharp, transparent and they’re gemmy. But most of all, they really stand out because of the stark contrast with the opaque, dull Selenite ball. As I’ve stated before, I especially like singular (in this case, two) crystals on matrix. To me that makes this piece special and a real eye-catcher. Great piece in excellent condition.
