Malachite pseudomorph after Azurite
$190.00
A very striking specimen featuring fibrous deep-green Malachite pseudomorphs after bladed Azurite crystals on a white clay matrix. The original Azurite retained its crystal form but was molecularly altered to (or replaced by) Malachite, thus the pseudomorph. The Malachite presents a silky and chatoyant (an optical reflectance effect, as in “cat’s eye,” arising from the fibrous structure of a material . . . ) luster, and although it’s a little wordy, it’s exactly this unique luster along with the pseudomorph formation that makes this particular specimen of Malachite eye-catching and unique. Very aesthetic piece in excellent condition.
