Manganese Dendrites on Sandstone

$50.00

Dendrites are an amazing phenomena in nature. By definition, Dendrite comes from the Greek “Dendron,” meaning tree. These unique patterns form when water rich in Manganese and Iron seeps into fissures in the layers of limestone (and other rock) leaving behind deposits of brown-to-black Manganese and Iron that form these incredible patterns. These are not fossils, but natural mineralogical processes. I hand picked this particular one for the contrast of the two colors and the symmetry. Just awesome!
