I have looked for years for a Staurolite piece that had a straight and perpendicular cross, and was reasonably priced. I found it. This is an amazing piece and the cross could not be more symmetrical. Staurolite can form a single prismatic crystal, but the more common and classic formation is the twinned penetration cross, also known as the cruciform twin. These twins are more often at 60 degree angles, so finding a perfect 90 degree cross is much more difficult, and to find one this large, this perfect and uncluttered is truly a great find! An awesome specimen with no damage.
